Clarksville, Edgewood-Colesburg Set for Week 1 Football Clash

clarksville-4

The Clarksville Indians football team travels to Edgewood this week to take on the Edgewood -Colesburg Vikings for a non-district matchup.

Last season, the Indians finished with a  6-4 record, while the Vikings’ season ended at 10-1 after a loss in the state quarterfinals.

As the Indians prepare for their first game of the 2025 campaign, Head Coach Darren Bohlen says his offense will look to be strong in their running game, while mixing in passes to keep the defense off-balance.

“Obviously we want to establish the run and that’s what we hang our hats on and I think we’re going to be able to do that and then throw in the passing game a little bit to keep the defense honest. So I think we have probably the best well-rounded team offensively that we’ve had since I’ve been here.”

Bohlen says some of the defensive players will be new this year, and they’ll need to be ready for the Vikings’ run game.

“Our defense is gonna have a challenge that first week. Edgewood, they’re kind of like us last year where they like to run the ball and you know I think that’s probably what they like to do what they’re gonna try to do that first game so we gotta be ready you know and I think we got some different looks that we can give them on defense and we can move some guys around we’re gonna have some new guys out there so they’re gonna have to pick it up and be ready to go that first week.”

The Vikings return Carson Ingles, who finished last season with

743 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Ingles also had a strong year defensively with 67.5 tackles. Jax Steger is also back after recording 75 tackles, and he is expected to see time at quarterback this season.

The matchup is this Friday at the Community Dreams Complex.
