The #9 (2A) Aplington-Parkersburg volleyball team will open NICL-Central play by hosting Columbus Catholic Thursday.
The Falcons (9-1) will look to bounce back from their first loss after falling 2-0 to #2 (1A) North Tama in a triangular Tuesday. One of the biggest questions entering the season was the setter position, which has been filled by junior Julia Mostek. Through the first 10 matches, she’s recorded eight assists per set while finding a variety of hitters. Zoey Uhlenhopp has stepped up as a key contributor in the middle, leading with 2.8 kills per set. Jenzen Klooster and Kolbie Wangsness have provided viable options on offense.
Columbus (0-2) lost both matches of last week’s season-opening triangular, falling 2-0 to both Iowa City Regina and Cedar Rapids Xavier. Sophia Keys leads with two kills per set, but the team has hit negative on the season.
It’ll start at approximately 7:00 p.m.
