The Hampton-Dumont School Board last week approved a proposal for distance/remote learning during snow days for the current school year.

The district will continue with their current plan for transitioning snow days and other non-school days to remote learning. In August, the plan was reviewed by both the Hampton-Dumont and CAL administrative teams, reflecting on the past two years of implementation. The review concluded that no changes are needed at this time.

Iowa law allows school districts to deliver up to five days of instruction virtually each year when inclement weather makes an in-person learning day not possible.

In other business, the H-D School Board approved the purchase of a Turf Tank 2 Plus to aid with marking all types of sports fields, like football and softball fields, and approved to move ahead with repairs to the fire alarm systems at North Side Elementary and the high school.
