The Clarksville Indians football team will be back on the road for Week 2 as they travel to Garwin to take on the GMG Wolverines for a district game. The Indians will look to rebound after losing in Week 1 to Edgewood-Colesburg 65-14.
Heading into the game, Head Coach Darren Bohlen says improving defensive pressure will be one key to the team’s success.
“Just gonna have to be able to put more pressure on the quarterback, be able to contain the quarterback and putting pressure on the backfield and making it easy for our DB’s because our DB’s are young. They’re two sophomores starting back there. Speed’s not our big number one thing right now, so we gotta be able to contain that.”
As the Indians prepare for this week’s game, Coach Bohlen says his team can’t take the Wolverines lightly.
“Going back to last year, we played them. They played us one heck of a tough game. So they’re getting better. It’s a game that we just can’t overlook and we’re going to have to prepare hard for the week and be ready for them.”
The Wolverines come into the game with an 0-1 record after losing 35-0 last week to Calamus-Wheatland.
Kickoff between Clarksville and GMG is set for Friday night at GMG High School in Garwin at 7:00 p.m.
