The West Fork football with their first road trip of the season will look to avenge a week nine loss to BCLUW, as the programs meet in Class A District 2 opener on Friday. The Comets had a 39-20 comeback win to conclude the 2024 season, the Warhawks won 26-7 to conclude the 2023 season.
West Fork (1-0) won 21-6 over rival North Butler at home in their season opener last week. The Warhawks were fueled by a rushing attack that produced 297 yards last week. Dax Suntken rushed for 123 yards. Zander Hansen had two touchdown carries. The Warhawks defense boxed in any level of success on the ground allowing only 27 rushing yards last week. Head Coach Dan Westhoff on the rematch with the Comets.
“We have got a bad taste in our mouths from that week nine game last year. Obviously lots of things have changed, one year to the next. They have a new coaching staff. Their head coach has coached out of state a little bit, coached in bigger programs and has been a coach in the state of Iowa,” says Westhoff. “Knowing that he’s had a few different stops as head coach, I know that he’s going to have those guys ready to go and prepared. The old saying is, you make your biggest jump from week one to week two, that is coaches and players. BCLUW is going to be ready to go. We need to be ready to go.”
BCLUW (0-1) fell 42-20 at East Marshall in their season opener last week. The Comets allowed 359 yards of offense (209 rushing, 150 passing) last week. Wyatt Gould led the team with 48 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Conrad.
