
The South Hardin cross country teams hosted the annual Pine Lake Run Thursday. Reigning Class 2A state champion Emerson Vokes of Grundy Center won the boys race in 16:13, highlighting local performers.
In the boys standings, the Spartans were third, Aplington-Parkersburg was fourth and Dike-New Hartford was fifth. Grundy Center’s Jayce Fryslie placed third, and teammate Leo Block was seventh. Trevan Thomas led the Falcons by placing ninth, and Dike-New Hartford was led by a 17th place finish by Brayden Starr. South Hardin didn’t have enough participants to post a team score, but was led by Jonah Vanderwilt, who placed 14th.
In the girls standings, Grundy Center placed fifth, Dike-New Hartford was sixth, Aplington-Parkersburg was eighth and South Hardin was ninth. Grace Storjohann of Grundy Center was the team’s only medalist, placing third. Dike-New Hartford was led by a 14th place finish by Chloe Paulsen. Aplington-Parkersburg’s Aubree Weber led the team in 36th place. Mya Wilaby led South Hardin by placing 20th.
