A 20-year-old Huxley woman was killed early Friday morning in a crash near the Boone River by Highway 3 in Wright County. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a John Deere Gator with two occupants, driven by 21-year-old Levi Edward Rasmussen of Goldfield, went off the riverbank around 3:10 a.m. Both individuals were thrown from the vehicle when it entered the water. McKenna Mae Woodbeck, the passenger, was trapped underneath and died at the scene. Rasmussen was injured and transported by Eagle Grove Ambulance to Iowa Specialty Hospital for treatment.

Authorities say neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Emergency crews from the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Eagle Grove Police, Eagle Grove Ambulance, and Goldfield Fire Department assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation, as troopers work to determine how the off-road vehicle misjudged the riverbank and caused the fatal accident.
