Two Mason City brothers have been sentenced to lengthy federal prison terms for their roles in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 63-year-old Gary Winters was sentenced in January to 25 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. Evidence showed he was caught with more than 180 grams of methamphetamine in August 2023 while still on supervised release from a prior federal drug conviction.
His brother, 58-year-old Bradley Winters, was sentenced last week to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of distribution of meth. Prosecutors say Bradley failed to appear in court last year, cut off his GPS monitor, and later fled from officers in Clear Lake while carrying meth and more than $6,000 in cash.
Both men must serve 10 years of supervised release after their prison terms.
