The West Fork football team avenged last season’s Week 9 loss to BCLUW with a 56-20 win over the Comets in their district opener on Friday. It is the Warhawks’ first 2-0 start since 2020.
West Fork led 7-0 after one quarter. The Warhawks allowed one score and pulled away with 28 points in the second quarter to take a 35-6 lead into the half. The Warhawks outscored the Comets 21-14 in the second half to close out the road win. The Warhawks offense took control of the game with 343 rushing yards and 138 passing yards. Warhawk Head Coach Dan Westhoff.
“We needed to start out our district slate on the right foot. Really happy that the kids came out and then took it seriously. They took it as a business trip and took their opponent seriously. We had a great week of practice and really parlayed that into a good performance tonight,” says Westhoff. “I thought Rylan Dorenkamp as a senior for us, really had a great night. I was really happy to see him go off, be able to get in the end zone and make a couple big catches there for us. Dax did his thing, he got in the end zone a few times. He had over 100 yards again. We really count on him to be the foundation and everything kind of builds off that.”
Dax Suntken had 120 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Zander Hansen went 4-4 with 129 passing yards and two touchdowns. Rylan Dorenkamp had two receptions for 83 yards and two touchdowns.
West Fork (2-0, 1-0 A-2) will play at Eagle Grove in Week 3.
