Week 3 marks homecoming for the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows football team as the Cowboys host Estherville Lincoln Central in non-district play.
The Cowboys enter the game at 1-1 after a narrow 7-6 loss to Hampton-Dumont-CAL in Week 2. Head Coach Caleb Vogel said he expects his team to bounce back.
“We’re not going to let last night’s game define who we are. We’re just going to continue to get back to our stuff, play tough-nosed football and get after it on Friday.”
While homecoming week can sometimes bring distractions, Vogel said the focus remains on preparation.
“Estherville has always been tough. The last few years they’ve kind of had our number. You know, they’re coming to our place on homecoming. It’s going to be a fun week. Could be full of distractions, but we’re not going to let that happen. We’re just going to get ready to prepare for them on Monday.”
Estherville Lincoln Central comes into the contest still seeking its first win of the season.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Middle School.
