The Meservey City Council met on Monday, September 8.

During the meeting council members received updates on the city’s ongoing water and sewer projects. Crews have completed drilling a new well to a depth of 575 feet and work is progressing on the pump house and meter installation. About half of the new water meters have already been connected, and residents who have not yet scheduled installation were reminded that service could be shut off if not completed soon.

Discussion took place on four nuisance properties that the Cerro Gordo County Health Department was unable to resolve. The city will send certified letters to the property owners, and cases may be forwarded to the city attorney if necessary.

In other business, council members discussed the city burn pile, possible uses for RAGBRAI proceeds, and an upcoming grant application. A special meeting later this month will address change orders and payment applications related to the water project.
