Iowa Falls-Alden Volleyball Wins Belmond-Klemme Invite Against Competitive Local Field

The Iowa Falls-Alden volleyball team went 4-1 on the day to win the Belmond-Klemme Invite on Saturday. The Cadets were joined at the tournament by four other local teams including Hampton-Dumont-CAL, North Butler, West Fork and the host Broncos.

Iowa Falls-Alden (8-7) on their way to the tournament title, earned wins over Hampton-Dumont-CAL (2-0), Garner-Hayfield-Ventura (2-1), Belmond-Klemme (2-0) and North Butler (2-0) in the title game. The Cadets only loss came against North Iowa (2-0) in pool play. Carlea Dagel had 30 kills and Leah Allen had 27 kills to lead the way. Up next the Cadets will host #6 (3A) Humboldt on Thursday.

North Butler (7-8) after winning their pool and finished runner-up overall, with wins over Belmond-Klemme (2-0), West Hancock (2-0) and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura (2-0). The Bearcats fell to West Fork (2-1) in pool play and the Cadets in the tournament championship match. The Bearcats will have the week off before taking the court at the Gladbrook-Reinbeck tournament on Saturday, September 20.

West Fork (7-3) went 2-1 in pool play, with wins over West Hancock (2-1) and North Butler (2-1) and fell to Belmond-Klemme (2-1). Abby Schoning had 19 kills to lead the team. Up next the Warhawks will host #3 (1A) Saint Ansgar on Tuesday. 

Belmond-Klemme (2-6) earned their first wins of the season with a 2-2 day, they won over West Fork (2-1) and West Hancock (2-0) and lost to title contenders Iowa Falls-Alden (2-0) and North Butler (2-0). Up next the Broncos will be at North Iowa on Tuesday.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL (2-4) went 1-2 in pool play with a win over North Iowa (2-1) and fell to Iowa Falls-Alden (2-0) and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura (2-0). Madison Heilskov had 20 kills and Maren Subbert had 17 kills to lead the team. The Bulldogs will have the week off before taking part in Nashua-Plainfield tournament on Saturday, September 20.
