Franklin County resident Daren Meints was inducted into the 2025 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the 4-H Exhibits Building at the Iowa State Fair August 17th. Ninety-two Iowa counties participated this year and selected 122 inductees for their outstanding service and dedication to 4-H. Inductees, or their surviving family members, were presented a certificate by Iowa 4-H Foundation President, Don Timmins, and State 4-H Program Leader, Mitchell Hoyer.
Meints has been a dedicated leader and volunteer for Franklin County 4-H for 20 years. Throughout this time, he has guided and inspired generations of young people as the leader of the West Fork Winners club, nurturing their curiosity and confidence across a wide variety of project areas.
At the Franklin County Fair itself, Meints is a familiar presence. Whether he’s cheering on his club members during judging sessions or managing operations behind the 4-H food stand, his wealth of experience and warm demeanor ensure everything runs smoothly. From mentoring newcomers to rallying long time volunteers, Meints embodies the spirit of 4-H: empowering young people, strengthening communities, and fostering lifelong learning.
The Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame was initiated in 2002 to help commemorate the 100th anniversary of 4-H. Information about previous inductees to the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame are available on the Iowa 4-H Foundation website, iowa4hfoundation.org.
