Hampton-Dumont-CAL schools is celebrating homecoming week, and as part of the festivities a parade will take place Friday, Sept. 19.
The H-D-CAL student council recently announced Coach Jerry Shafrath as the parade’s grand marshal. Shafrath served as the Bulldogs’ head football coach for 21 years, compiling 102 wins, three district championships and seven postseason appearances.
He was named district coach of the year five times and is a member of both the Bulldog Athletics Hall of Fame and the Iowa Football Hall of Fame.
The parade will begin at 12:50 p.m. at the Franklin County Courthouse and will end at the high school, where a community pep rally and coronation are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
