State Treasurer Roby Smith is reminding Iowans that the deadline to register for the ISave 529 Fall Giveaway is coming up on September 30. The contest will award one child a $1,000 contribution to their ISave 529 account, along with an additional $1,000 for a K-12 school of their choice.
There are currently more than 271,000 ISave 529 accounts statewide, including 231 accounts in Franklin County with over $2.9 million saved.
Smith says, “There’s still time to register and give a child in your life a chance to win. Visit Iowa529Contest.com, click the registration button, and enter your information to get signed up.”
The ISave 529 program allows families and friends to save for future educational expenses. Accounts can be opened with as little as $25, and Iowa taxpayers can deduct up to $5,800 per beneficiary from their state income taxes in 2025.
