The Belmond-Klemme football team will look for their second straight Class A District 2 win as they host Lake Mills for homecoming on Friday.
Belmond-Klemme (1-2, 1-1 A-2) won their first game of the year 28-12 at AGWSR in district play last week. Brody Heifner showcased his dual threat capabilities in the win with 196 passing yards, 62 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Braden Dougherty paces the receiving core with 357 receiving yards. The Broncos defense enters off their best performance of the season, with a shutout first half and allowing only 12 points against the Cougars. Head Coach Josh Faaborg on what’s needed to track down first home win since 2020.
“Lake Mills is always a dangerous team. I know their record isn’t quite where they want it to be. Same story as us right now. They’re well coached, a disciplined football team. It’s always a challenge for us,” says Faaborg. “The same focus we had in week two. We haven’t had a home win in far too long, that’s really our focus this week. Getting back in front of an excited, big homecoming crowd. We need to make sure that we are focused on taking care of business. It’s time for us to get that first home win in several years.”
Lake Mills (0-3, 0-1 A-2) fell 50-0 at home to BCLUW in their district opener last week. The Bulldogs have been productive outside the redzone, but limited in the score column, averaging 15 points or less this season. Asher Stensrud leads a pass leaning attack with 349 passing yards and a touchdown.
Lake Mills has won the last two meetings, the Broncos will look for their first win in series since 2022.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Belmond.
