The South Hardin football team capped non-district play last week with a 41-14 win over Hudson and is ranked No. 4 in Class 1A in the latest Radio Iowa poll.

The Tigers (3-0) begin district play this week as they host Eagle Grove in a homecoming matchup. It will be only the third meeting between the two schools, with the most recent in 2019, when the Tigers defeated the Eagles 67-0.

Head Coach Nick Eller says he’s looking forward to homecoming week.

“I enjoy homecoming week. I think it’s a great week for your school and community to come together. So I always really enjoy it. I know some coaches don’t, but so far we’ve always had a good experience with it. So I hope it stays that way.”

As district play begins, South Hardin remains focused on improving each week and not looking too far ahead. While the team is undefeated, Coach Eller says his team’s goal is to put it all together for 48 minutes.

“We’ll get everyone’s best shot. We’ll get everyone’s trick plays and just gotta come play really good sound football and then our goal is going to be trying to do it for four quarters.”

The Eagles (1-2) enter Friday’s contest after defeating Lake Mills 22-12 last week.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday in Eldora.
