Board Proclaims Healthiest State Walk Day, Sets Budget Hearing for Oct. 6

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday morning at the courthouse.

During public comment, concerns were again raised about the proposed CO2 pipeline, and updates were shared on the courthouse roof contract. Supervisors also reported on recent committee meetings, including conservation, housing, workforce development, and community action programs

Secondary Roads Engineer Jay Waddingham provided a department update, and the board approved the closure of Nettle Avenue between 125th and 135th streets for roadwork

Supervisors passed a resolution approving a subdivision waiver request from Jamie Carroll for refinancing purposes. They also proclaimed October 1st as Healthiest State Annual Walk Day in Franklin County, encouraging all residents to take part. As part of the proclamation, the courthouse clocktower will be lit green from September 29th through October 10th

Looking ahead, a public hearing on a fiscal year 2026 budget amendment has been set for October 6th at 10 a.m. at the courthouse. The board also approved seeking proposals for audit services for fiscal years 2026 through 2028 and adjusted the November schedule so the regular meeting will be held November 12th to coincide with the election canvass

The board acknowledged the Sheriff’s monthly report for August and the appointment of Butch Gruelke by the county attorney.

The next supervisors meeting is set for Monday, September 29th, at 8:30 a.m. at the Franklin County Courthouse
