The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says an alleged narcotics trafficking investigation led to a major drug bust early Saturday morning.
Around 3 a.m. on Sept. 20, deputies executed a search warrant at a rural McCallsburg residence on County Highway S27, with assistance from the Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team. Investigators say they recovered about three and a half pounds of methamphetamine, along with firearms.
Authorities arrested 50-year-old Virgil Lee Kriens of McCallsburg. He was charged in Hardin County with possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of firearms as a felon, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. Officials say additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol, and the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force.
