Belmond-Klemme Aims to Keep Momentum Rolling Against Comets

After their first win at home since 2020, the Belmond-Klemme Broncos football team will travel to Conrad to play BCLUW on Friday.

The Broncos (2-2) are coming off last week’s 45-0 win over Lake Mills, a game where quarterback Brody Heifner was perfect in passing, completing 10 out of 10 attempts while throwing 3 touchdowns. On the ground, the team racked up 301 yards rushing, with running back Braeden Wright getting the bulk of the carries. Head Coach Josh Faaborg says avoiding costly mistakes is key to keeping the offense on track.

“We need to stay on schedule,” Faaborg says. That’s the big thing. The story to our season when things have not gone well is we’ve shot ourselves in the foot with penalties at the wrong times. I mean there’s really no right time for a penalty, but we’ve got to really avoid the third and longs, the second and longs. We’ve got to be on schedule for us to be most effective.”

BCLUW (1-3) is coming off last week’s loss to West Hancock. The Comets running game has averaged about 220 yards a game this season. An area that Faaborg says his team will have to be ready to defend.

“They’re a solid football team. They’ve got a really nice running attack. They’ve got some horses in their backfield and do a nice job up front. So, our focus this week is definitely going to be stopping the run.”

Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
