Community Effort Helps St. Paul’s Students Pack Healthy Lunches

St. Paul’s Lutheran School students may soon have a new way to pack healthy lunches, thanks to a community donation drive.

Organizers are seeking sponsorships for each of the school’s 47 students with a Tupperware Lunch-It Set, which can be used for school meals or snacks. Each set costs $15, and as of Thursday afternoon only 12 more donations were needed to reach the goal.

The effort is designed to make it easier for students to pack nutritious lunches while giving them a free, reusable container.

To complement the project, St. Paul’s will host an education night Oct. 16 in the school gym for students and families. Franklin General Hospital dietitian Megan Oehlert will give a presentation, and students will take part in a hands-on activity by packing their next day’s lunch with their new containers.

Those interested in sponsoring a student’s lunch may contact Michelle Hartman at 641-373-8880 or St. Paul’s Lutheran School at 641-579-6046. Donations will be accepted through Saturday at noon.
