The Rockwell City Council met in regular session Wednesday and Mayor Larry Wentz shared updates on a planned DOT detour expected next spring. He noted that if Rockwell declines the detour, the city would be responsible for any resulting street damage. However, if the route is moved to B60, the city may receive compensation for necessary repairs.
Wentz also said Rockwell can embargo oversized trucks if needed. Council member Brian Koob asked about installing a solar speed limit sign. Wentz will talk with the DOT again about the proposed detour.
Cerro Gordo County Auditor Adam Wedmore presented a website update proposal through Neapolitan Labs for $6,000, with a $1,000 annual fee. He noted this is what the county is using and offered to maintain the site for the city at no cost. The council also reviewed a competing bid from Webwise, the current provider, for $2,500. No action was taken by the council.
Trick-or-Treat night was set for Saturday, November 1st, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The council approved a bid for fall cemetery spraying from Weier’s Lawn Service in the amount of $1,300 and reviewed a quote from River City Fence in the amount of $3,539.04 to repair storm-damaged fencing at the cemetery. The council approved to have it fixed. Insurance funds will cover the fencing but not full tree cleanup. Wentz said he will seek additional funding sources.
