
The Dike-New Hartford girls tennis team took another step toward a return trip to the state tournament Wednesday. They defeated Independence 5-0 at Byrnes Park in a 1A Region 7 semifinal.
In another dominant performance, the Wolverines swept each completed match. At #1 singles, Addy Joslin won 6-2, 6-2. Lauren Muller won the closest match of the day, 6-2, 6-3 at #2. At #3, Haley Badker rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 win. Payton Foster at #4 and Autumn Meester at #5 each won all games, coming out with 6-0, 6-0 wins. Tareya Johnson at #6 singles had her match cut short when the dual was clinched.
The Wolverines have advanced to Saturday’s regional final, where they’ll take on St. Edmond at 10:00 a.m. at Byrnes Park.
