Hampton Council Approves Water Project Payment, Expands Image of Pride Program

The Hampton City Council met in regular session Thursday and unanimously approved pay estimate No. 9 for ongoing water treatment improvements. The $1,995 payment to Henkel Construction was presented by City Manager Ron Dunt.

Council members also approved updates for the Image of Pride program and brochure. The revised version, presented by council member Jerre Grefe, expands the Image of Pride from a six-month to a year-round program. 

Two resolutions were adopted. The first, a resolution implementing a 12-month moratorium on dog license fees. The second, a resolution establishing a 28E agreement with Franklin County to build and maintain a joint brush burn site. The new site will be located south of the Hampton Municipal Airport. Both passed on 6-0 votes.

The council also held the first reading of an ordinance which proposes new no-parking zones along 3rd Avenue SE on the north and south side from 3rd Street SE to 4th Street SE and along 3rd Street SW on the east side from Central Ave West to 1st Avenue SW. The reading passed on a 6-0 vote. 

The Hampton City Council also set the next council workshop for Tuesday, October 7th due to the Hampton Public Library’s 120th celebration on October 6th.
