Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Butler County is encouraging residents to take part in the Great Apple Crunch in October. The event encourages healthy eating and local food purchasing initiatives. Program Coordinator Lesley Milius says the objective of the activity is to buy, serve and crunch into locally grown apples. She’ll visit several area libraries to help people get involved, and says residents should contact their local library to find out when these events will happen.
The organization’s goal is one million crunches across Iowa.
