The city of Hampton’s new compost site will open Wednesday, Oct. 1, south of the Hampton Municipal Airport at 1236 Olive Ave.
The old compost site on 1st Avenue NW closed Sept. 19.
The new facility follows the Hampton City Council’s approval last week of a resolution to enter into a 28E agreement with Franklin County to build and maintain a joint brush burn site.
Hours for the new site are Mondays from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 2 to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
