The West Fork volleyball team will return to the court for the first time in a week as they battle Top of Iowa Conference East rival North Butler on Tuesday. The match will air on 104.9 KLMJ. This will be the second meeting between the teams this season, West Fork won 2-1 in the first meeting at the Belmond-Klemme tournament on September 13.
West Fork (7-6, 1-3 TIC-East) will look to halt a three game slide which included a 3-0 loss at Osage on Tuesday, September 23. The Warhawks top attackers are the duo of Abby Schoning with 1.7 kills per set and Brylee Dickman with 1.3 kills per set. Zada Huff has aided scoring runs with a 95.2 percent serve efficiency, securing 35 service aces which is the second most in the conference. Head Coach Emily Greimann notes the value of competing in a conference like the Top of Iowa.
“We are so lucky to be in a conference that has great volleyball teams. We know that every game that we play, it’s going to be a battle and it’s going to be against teams that are not going to ever make it easy on us,” says Greimann. “We want to face teams like that, where they can push us to be our best. We can rise up to the challenge. It is such a great thing being able to compete and learn from it.”
North Butler (9-13, 3-3 TIC-East) last time out fell in a five set thriller, 3-2 to Rockford on senior night on Thursday. The Bearcats top attackers are Addison Ulrich with 1.6 kills per set and Zoey Thompson with 1.0 per set. Thompson is to not be underestimated from the service line with a 93.5 percent serve efficiency, swinging for a conference leading 44 service aces. Head Coach Sarah Goodrich’s thoughts on a rematch with the Warhawks following a weekend off.
“We had the weekend to recover, ice and heal and become healthy again. And to take that time to mentally reset,” says Goodrich. “We’ve seen West Fork and we know what they’re gonna do to us. We fell short to them once but we’re hungry and we’re ready to go.”
Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 p.m. followed by the first serve at 7:00 p.m. in Sheffield.
