Write-In Votes Decide CAL School Board Seat in Special Election

In a special election held Tuesday (9/30/25), voters in the CAL Community School District selected Shaun Koenen to fill a vacant District 1 school board seat. According to unofficial results from the Franklin County Auditor’s Office, Koenen received 25 of the 33 total write-in votes cast. Anna Dunnwald received three votes, with the remaining five votes going to other individuals as write-ins.

The election was held exclusively for residents of District 1, which includes parts of Franklin and Wright counties. The results will be officially canvassed by the Franklin County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, October 7.
