Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash last (Tue) night south of Clear Lake. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. along Grouse Avenue about eight miles north of Thornton. Investigators say 22-year-old Jett Orin Neuberger of Clear Lake was slowing down to turn into a private driveway when his 2002 International truck was rear-ended by a 2006 Ford F-250 driven by 48-year-old Kristopher Michael Lester of Klemme.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and sustained injuries in the crash. Neuberger was taken by private vehicle to MercyOne North Iowa in Mason City, while Lester was transported by Mason City Ambulance. Officials noted that seatbelt use likely prevented more serious injuries.

The Ford F-250 was towed from the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Assisting at the scene were the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Thornton Fire, Swaledale Ambulance, Mason City EMS, and MercyOne AirMed.
