UPDATE WITH CORRECTION:
The Hampton Police Department responded to two separate two-vehicle accidents on Tuesday (10/7/25), both occurring at uncontrolled intersections.
In our earlier report on the two-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday evening (10/7/25) at the intersection of 1st Avenue NE and 3rd Street NE in Hampton, we incorrectly stated the direction and point of impact involving the vehicles. According to confirmed information by the Hampton Police Department, Sandra Brouwer was traveling eastbound on 1st Avenue NE when her vehicle entered the uncontrolled intersection and was struck by a southbound Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a juvenile on 3rd Street NE. Brouwer became trapped in her vehicle and was transported to Franklin General Hospital for possible injuries. The crash resulted in an estimated $17,500 in property damage. We regret our error and appreciate the opportunity to correct it.
Earlier in the day, just after 9 a.m., Hampton Police responded to another two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 1st Avenue SE and 3rd Street SE. A 2016 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Kale Schumann of Hampton, was heading east on 1st Avenue SE when it entered the intersection and struck a 2010 Infiniti Q56, driven by Gloria Siciliano of Hampton, which was traveling north on 3rd Street SE.
