Silver City resident Douglas Jensen has officially announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the United States Congress representing Iowa’s Fourth District. The campaign launched Friday in Treynor, where Jensen spoke to a crowd of supporters about his vision for restoring accountability and function to Congress.
Jensen said his campaign will focus on returning the government to its core responsibilities – balancing budgets, working across differences and rebuilding public trust.
Jensen served multiple overseas deployments and continues to serve his country in a different way today – as a military spouse and father of two young children while his wife, Air Force Lt. Colonel Heidi Jensen, attends the elite Joint Advanced Warfighting School.
Jensen is also an executive in the commercial construction industry and has an extensive background in leadership and public policy.
The 40-year-old Jensen describes himself as a constitutional conservative who believes in limited government, fiscal responsibility and family values. This is his first run for public office.
Incumbent Congressman Randy Feenstra filed paperwork in May to launch a bid for governor. Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District covers 36 counties in western and north-central Iowa, including Franklin and Wright counties in the broadcast area.
