The West Fork volleyball team faced close battles, but swept Monday’s home triangular with Clarksville and Belmond-Klemme, as aired on 104.9 KLMJ and RadioOnTheGo’s YouTube channel.

In the opener against Clarksville, the Warhawks put together the most lopsided match of the night, despite still having close sets. They pulled away for a 25-19, 25-23 win, though faced a tenacious battle from the Indians.

The second match was more intense, with Clarksville defeating Belmond-Klemme 2-1 to win their third match of the season. The Indians won 27-25, 24-26, 15-12 in a match that featured numerous lead changes and could have gone either way.

In the finale, the Warhawks put themselves in a position to sweep, but the Broncos finished strong in set 2. West Fork made clutch plays when it mattered most for a 25-22, 17-25, 16-14 win.=

“They really truly want to win, and we talked about that in the huddle,” Head Coach Greimann says.” Who’s going to show that out there? Who’s going to show that grit and that energy that we need? One thing that we said is we really need to control our errors. If we can really tighten things up in that sense and make sure that we’re having control and all the things, then good things will happen. And we started to see that towards the end, and I’m just very proud of them.”

Senior outside hitter Brylee Dickman describes how some role changes throughout the season have fueled the fire.

“I feel like everyone is just so needed for this team,” Dickman says. “There’s some great leaders like Abby Schoning, Zada Huff has been a great setter, she has improved so much, and she just shows up every single day. There’s just that kind of leadership and there’s so many more.”

The Warhawks and Broncos will meet again in next week’s playoff opener.
