Hampton-Dumont-CAL senior Brady Harr recently committed to join the football program at Iowa State University. He says the Cyclones were his first power conference opportunity.
“I’ve been an Iowa State fan my whole life, so that helped out quite a bit,” Harr says. “I talked to a few other little schools, UNI and schools in the Valley, but Iowa State was the first big one to jump on, so it was an easy take.”
A tight end/defensive end, Harr is Hampton-Dumont-CAL’s first DI football commit since Josh Knipfel in the 2010s. Harr is currently second on the team with 13 catches for 165 yards, and has recorded 11.5 tackles. Last year, he had 11 catches for 78 yards and two scores, with 13.5 tackles and a sack defensively.
Harr describes some of his objectives before he joins the program.
“I think one thing I want to emphasize is footwork and agility. And on top of that, obviously strength. But I think a big thing is if you can get your footwork, speed, and that stuff down to begin with, I think that’s a great point. Whether it’s running routes, blocking, footwork is the first thing that comes in all those.”
Harr’s brother Scott also is a college football player, having participated at Iowa Western Community College. Brady says Scott was a mentor throughout the recruiting process.
“Midway through my junior season, I was never used to talking to coaches. So when coaches would call or send me a text, I would be like, ‘Hey, what do I say to this guy?’ And then I’d say all the coaches at Hampton helped me out, shaped me in different ways, helped me progress through my journey in football, and taught me a bunch of things about the sport. And not only just the sport, but how important the classroom is, showing up on time to things and just discipline in general.”
During his time at Hampton-Dumont-CAL, he has also participated in basketball. He’ll join the Cyclone program in fall 2026.
