The Clarksville football team will close the regular season by hosting Collins-Maxwell Friday in a game that’ll determine playoff seeds. With both teams at 4-1 in district play, the winner will be the second place team and the loser will be the third place team. In the Eight-Player playoffs, six of the 10 2-seeds statewide host playoff games, and all 3-seeds go on the road for the first round.
The Indians will look to bounce back from their first district loss, 56-20 to #3 (8) Gladbrook-Reinbeck last week. That night, they rushed for 305 yards, the second-lowest performance of the season.
“It’s all about matchups,” Head Coach Darren Bohlen says. “We didn’t match up very well against Gladbrook-Reinbeck. They had some phenomenal athletes that had some speed and we don’t match up well against that. And I think we’re going to match up a little bit better against Collins-Maxwell. They’ve got a little bit of speed, but they don’t have two guys that you’ve got to key on. Offensively, I think we’re just going to be able to do what we want to do again and run the football. But we’ve just got to go out and do it.”
Collins-Maxwell is coming off last week’s 61-12 win over North Tama, which clinched a playoff spot. They’ve rushed for over 2,000 yards, winning matchups in the trenches for the most part. In their wins, they’ve scored less than 60 points only once.
The kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m.
