North Butler School Board Votes to Leave Top of Iowa Conference, Join Iowa Star

clarksville-2-2

The North Butler School Board this week approved on a unanimous vote to withdraw from the Top of Iowa Conference, effective at the end of the 2026-27 school year.

The board also approved on a unanimous vote to join the Iowa Star Conference, starting in the 2027-28 school year.

In an email sent Thursday to faculty and parents of the district, Superintendent Bryan Boysen stated they “had been taking a visionary look at our athletic and activity programs in the Top of Iowa Conference.” He adds that, “a few schools will be leaving and additional schools are considering a move from the Top of Iowa Conference. After discussion at our last board meeting Monday night, the NB (North Butler) School Board approved to move forward with the request to withdraw.”

Boysen stated some of the reasons for leaving the conference include the potential for cost savings, more instructional time and less travel distance, a more competitive market with similar sized districts and additional fine arts opportunities.

Boysen says anyone with questions regarding this move should contact the school.
