The North Butler football team prepares to defend their home field against #2 (A) Saint Ansgar in Class A District 3 play on Friday. It will be the Bearcats senior night and regular season finale.

North Butler (4-3, 3-2 A-3) rushed for 463 yards to bring home a 48-6 district win at Postville last week. Tucker Pecha (pay-key) leads a steady Bearcats running game with 638 yards and eight touchdowns. Evan McCormick and Peyton Knoll added depth to the back field last week with a combined five touchdowns. The Bearcats defense has allowed only one opponent to score over 20 points in district play. Head Coach Jordan Vanderloop.

They’re well disciplined. It will be a really tough and fun game. We have to make sure we come out, play our type of football and do what we can here. We have faith in the boys, they’ll play hard and play to the last whistle of the game,” says Vanderloop. “These seniors have been great leaders. They’ve stepped up. They put the time in. They’re just a great group of kids that we’ve had. Couldn’t be more proud of everything they’ve done in the past four years. It’s just a good group of kids on and off the field. They do great things. They’re fun to be around. It’s a great night to honor them. We’re sad to see them go after this year.”

Saint Ansgar (7-0, 5-0 A-3) remained perfect with a 55-8 district win at home over Clayton Ridge last week. The Saints have the third most rushing yards in Class A with 2,195. Korben Michel paces the run game with 940 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns. The Saints defense has not allowed more than eight points to an opponent in district play.

This will be the first meeting between the team since 2022.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Greene.
