For the second time in three seasons, the North Butler volleyball team will host Tripoli to begin postseason play. They’ll meet in a 1A Region 5 first round match Monday.
The Bearcats (18-15) have recorded the program’s first winning season since 2021. Underclassmen have been the strength of the offense, with sophomore Addison Ulrich leading at 1.8 kills per set, sophomore Zoey Thompson at 1.3 and freshman Linde Fleshner at 0.9. They’ve also connected on over 90 percent of serves, providing a foundation for success.
Tripoli (13-16) went 2-1 at Saturday’s Iowa Star Conference Tournament Silver Bracket at Rockford, where they defeated Valley Lutheran and Clarksville before falling to the hosts. Madaline Harken leads at 2.0 kills per set and is the team’s only player to have topped 100 kills for the season.
The first serve will be at 7:00 p.m., and the winner will advance to Wednesday’s regional quarterfinal at #5 (1A) Janesville.
