West Fork Volleyball Prepares for Rematch with Belmond-Klemme in 2A Playoff Opener on Monday

The West Fork and Belmond-Klemme volleyball teams will meet for the second time in a week and third time this season, to begin the Class 2A Region 1 postseason on Monday. The match will air on 104.9 KLMJ.

West Fork (9-9) concluded the regular season with a 2-0 outing at their home triangular on Monday, October 13. The Warhawks won 2-0 over Clarksville and 2-1 over Belmond-Klemme. Senior attackers Abby Schoning with 1.7 kills and Brylee Dickman with 1.6 kills per set energize the offense. Zada Huff has provided another scoring avenue for the Warhawks with 41 service aces at 95.8 percent serve efficiency. Warhawks Head Coach Emily Greimann on how the team prepared for the rematch.

I definitely think having a little bit of confidence. We had a little rough patch there and then came out with two wins. I think we’re heading towards where we want them to be. Having that little bit of confidence saying, we know we can do this,” says Greimann. “We know that it’s not going to be easy by any means. We had four practices to really fix some things, clean up a couple of things, work on staying aggressive and really get ready for a brand new match on Monday. They’ll probably be a brand new team when we see them. We have to be ready for that and ready to compete.”

Belmond-Klemme (2-21) concluded the regular season with an 0-2 outing at West Fork triangular. The Broncos will begin the postseason looking to overcome a 16 match losing streak. The Broncos last wins came against West Hancock 2-0 and West Fork 2-1 on September 13. Nevi McMurray leads the Broncos front line with 1.4 kills per set. Kennedy Morris has kept scoring chances alive for the Broncos with 206 digs. 

Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 p.m. followed by the first serve at 7:00 p.m. in Belmond. The winner will advance to take #1 (2A) Denver in 2A regional quarterfinal on Wednesday.
