The Hampton City Council discussed several community topics during Monday night’s workshop.

Public Works Director Doug Tarr and Police Chief Mark Morrison provided updates on nuisance issues across the city. The council also heard from Jason Lubben of Giddings Signs, who reported peeling and fading on the city’s west and south entrance signs. The project will be revisited during next year’s budget discussions.

Franklin County Development Association Director Mary Amsbaugh shared updates on local development efforts, and Chamber Director Elisa VanWert requested the same street closures as last year for the annual Halloween Howl. The request will go before the council on Thursday.

The council also continued discussion on whether to allow chickens within city limits. Members noted hearing both support and opposition from residents, and individual requests will be considered at Thursday’s meeting.

The council will meet again on Thursday at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
