The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for portions of northern Iowa — including Franklin and Butler counties — effective Tuesday (10/21/25) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Winds from the northwest are expected to reach sustained speeds of 25 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 45 miles per hour during the afternoon and early evening hours. The advisory includes towns such as Hampton, Dumont, Parkersburg, Clarksville, Greene, Allison, and Aplington.
Forecasters warn that the strong winds could blow around unsecured objects, bring down tree limbs, and potentially cause scattered power outages. Driving could be hazardous, especially for high-profile vehicles on rural roads and open highways. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items such as trash cans and patio furniture ahead of time.
Again, that Wind Advisory is in effect Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
