AGWSR Volleyball Takes on St.Edmond in a 1A Regional Quarterfinal

The AGWSR volleyball team will look to advance back to a regional semifinal for the first time since 2023, as they face St.Edmond in a Class 1A Region 8 quarterfinal on Wednesday. The match will air on 104.9 KLMJ. 

AGWSR (7-29) advanced with a 3-0 sweep of Collins-Maxwell in the first round on Monday. Brylea Metzgar had 12 kills and Hadley Bright had eight kills to drive the Cougars. The Cougars were also aided by seven service aces in the win. Elise Olson leads the defensive response with 63 digs. Head Coach Kayla Miller.

Our chemistry is a big one. Lots of communication at the end of the day,” says Miller. “Working on our serve-receiving, making sure that we can get to all of our hitters. That will be a big factor at the end of the day.”

St.Edmond (9-20) advanced with a 3-0 sweep of Colo-Nesco in the first round on Monday. The attacking duo of Eden Horn with 2.6 kills and Ava Underberg lead the Gaels frontline offense. They each have over 100 kills on the season. Ella Vandi leads the Gaels defense with 254 digs. 

This will be the first meeting between the teams since 2023.

Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 p.m. followed by the first serve at 7:00 p.m. in Fort Dodge. The winner will advance to face #8 (1A) BCLUW or Lynnville-Sully in a Class 1A regional semifinal on Monday, October 27.
