The Iowa Falls-Alden football team will wrap up its regular season Friday night with a home game against the Benton Bobcats.
The Cadets (3-5) offense will look to get back on the scoreboard after being shut out the last two weeks by West Delaware and Independence. Despite recent challenges, Head Coach Eric Walkingstick says the team’s response will be key.
“It’s not the obstacle or whatever gets in the way, it’s how we respond to that,” says Walkingstick. “And so we got to continue to fight back. And we need good leadership out there on the field. We’re going to try to find out this week and get back to work and just do things right.”
In the passing department, Karsen Kalous leads the Cadets with 1,024 yards, with Cade Olberding accounting for most of the receiving yards and touchdowns. On the ground, the Cadets are led by Kalous and Jack Duit with 452 and 288 rushing yards, respectively.
The Bobcats (4-4) are led by quarterback Carson Nolan, who has thrown for 1,252 yards and eight touchdowns. On the ground, Nolan and Elias Bieschke have combined for 740 rushing yards this season.
Looking ahead to the final week, Walkingstick says the focus is on closing the season on a positive note.
“We have to play well, I mean, we’re capable of playing with them,” says Walkingstick. “It’s just one of the ones where we’ve got to get our head up and realize that we’ve got one more game and we want to finish on a good note.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday in Iowa Falls.
