Voters in the AGWSR School District will soon decide on a $12.76 million bond referendum aimed at addressing key facility needs across the district. The proposal follows a similar measure that narrowly failed last year, falling just short of the 60 percent approval needed to pass.
Superintendent Ben Petty says this year’s plan was adjusted after gathering community feedback.
“There are some changes to this one. A lot of it’s the same. The overall scale of it, I know the facilities committee and the board wanted to be responsive to some of the feedback they got from the community. So, it did come in about $2 million, estimated less than that.”
If approved, the bond would fund classroom renovations, new bus barns in Ackley and Wellsburg, and significant HVAC and electrical upgrades.
Two recent community meetings in Ackley and Wellsburg gave residents a chance to ask questions and tour areas that would be improved under the proposed bond.
