Iowa livestock producers will have an opportunity to learn more about building financial stability and planning for the next generation during the upcoming Farming for the Future Conference.
The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers will host its 20th annual conference on Wednesday, November 20th, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny.
This year’s theme, “Building Your Livestock Legacy,” will feature a full lineup of experts covering topics such as farm budgeting, business planning, tax considerations, and farm succession strategies. A farmer panel will also share real-life transition stories and answer questions about partnering with new or non-family farmers.
CSIF Executive Director Brian Waddingham says many young Iowans are eager to get into farming but struggle with financing, while established producers are seeking ways to diversify amid lower commodity prices and higher land costs. The conference aims to provide resources to help all farmers better manage risk and understand the farm transition process.
Speakers include Iowa Farm Bureau economist Dr. Christopher Pudenz, who will give an Iowa ag outlook, and several experts from Farm Credit Services of America and Practical Farmers of Iowa, discussing tools for cost management, financial strength, and beginning farmer support.
Registration is free through November 15th, including lunch, with a $20 fee after that date. Space is limited. More details and registration are available at SupportFarmers.com/conference or by calling 1-800-932-2436.
