Time to Fall Back: Daylight Saving Ends This Weekend

Get ready to gain an extra hour of sleep this weekend as Daylight Saving Time officially ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday (Nov. 2). The shift back to Standard Time means brighter mornings but shorter evening daylight. Despite the unpopular biannual change, federal law requires most of the U.S. to observe Daylight Saving Time. Only Arizona — except the Navajo Nation, Hawaii, and U.S. territories remain on permanent Standard Time.

States like Iowa have seen recent efforts to stop the time changes; bills were introduced in the 2025 legislative session to make Daylight Saving Time permanent here, but they stalled in committee. For now, the push to “lock the clock” awaits national approval. Double-check those manual watches, and don’t worry, we’ll remind you again at the end of the week.
