Gas Prices Down a Cent Statewide; Diesel Up 12 Cents

Iowa drivers are seeing a small dip in gasoline prices this week. According to AAA, regular unleaded is averaging $2.80 per gallon statewide which is down one cent from last week and 11 cents lower than this time last year. The national average sits at $3.04 per gallon.

According to Gas Buddy, as of Wednesday afternoon regular unleaded prices in Hampton were sitting around $2.88 cents per gallon, in Parkersburg prices were at $2.74, and in Iowa Falls, gas was $2.84. 

Diesel prices in Iowa moved the other direction, rising 12 cents to an average of $3.53 per gallon. That’s still 15 cents cheaper than the national average of $3.68, but higher than the $3.39 average one year ago.

Global crude oil prices also increased this week. West Texas Intermediate crude is now priced at $60.88 per barrel, up $2.19, while Brent crude rose $2.45 to $65.18.
