The Allison City Council met for its regular meeting earlier this week on Monday.

During the open forum, concerns were raised about a rental property at 408 Elm Street, calling attention to garbage and debris piling up in the yard and safety concerns inside the home. Mayor Henrichs said he will contact the property owner and give seven days for the exterior to be cleaned, or the City will take action and bill it to the owner’s property taxes.

Cemetery upkeep was also discussed. Previously, the council had agreed to have the cemetery cleaned up by Nov. 11. Community members requested that the grounds be mowed to the fence line and the trees be trimmed around. Another request was made to have the tipped over stones be set back in place before winter. Mayor Henrichs said he will speak with Stirling Lawn Care about the additional work.

Council member Jon Heuer noted that cemetery mowing bids will be accepted until December 1 with review planned at the December 8 council meeting.

In other business, the council approved upgrading two City Hall computers from Windows 10 to Windows 11 at a cost of $600. Council members also approved a $500 reimbursement for sidewalk replacement at 619 Third Street under the city’s sidewalk plan.

Three resolutions also received unanimous approval, including financial reporting and a Tax Increment Financing indebtedness certification for the county auditor.
