The #4 (2A) Grundy Center volleyball team advanced to its second straight state tournament appearance with Wednesday’s 3-1 win over #14 (2A) Woodward-Granger in the 2A Region 4 Final at Roland-Story.
The Spartans pulled off a backdoor sweep. After falling 27-25 in the opener, they flipped a switch and were dominant in the next three, giving up 10, 19 and 15 points in the remaining sets.
The 4-seed in next week’s Class 2A state tournament, they’ll take on 5-seed Beckman Catholic in a quarterfinal on Tuesday, November 4 at 4:00 p.m. inside Xtream Arena.
