More than 200 Iowa veteran-based groups are preparing special Veterans Day celebrations thanks to support from the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation and Iowa Select Farms.
The foundation provided free boneless pork loins and event supply kits to 214 eligible organizations which included American Legions, VFW posts, county veteran affairs offices, Elks Lodges, AMVETS chapters and other veteran-focused groups. Each kit will feed about 960 people.
The “Pork for Patriots” kits have been received locally by the American Legion posts in Ackley, Dows, New Hartford and Parkersburg; the AMVETS Post in Aplington; the Wright County Veterans Affairs office in Clarion; the American Legion Auxiliary in Eldora; and the Elks Lodge in Iowa Falls.
