Clarksville Football Takes on #8 (8P) Don Bosco for Eight Player Second Round Friday

clarksville-4

The Clarksville football team will travel to face #8 (8P) Don Bosco for the first time since 2013, as the teams meet in an Eight Player second round matchup on Friday.

Clarksville (7-2) advanced with a shootout 78-68 win at home over Coon Rapids Bayard last week. The Indians offense was electric with 542 yards against the Crusaders. Nathan Moon had an all star performance in the win with 284 rushing yards, 116 passing yards and nine touchdowns (six rushing and three passing). The Indians defense will look to find its groove after allowing 47 or more points in their last three games. Head Coach Darren Bohlen says movement with a purpose will be key on both sides of the ball.

We just got to get off the football, drive and move people. Last week, I think we were catching too much. This week, we got to be able to move our feet, get those guys off the line of scrimmage, so that we create those holes. That’s also going to create opportunities in the passing game like we have the last two weeks,” says Bohlen. “I just think we got to get lined up properly and fly to the football. I think if we do that, we’re going to be okay. They don’t have a ton of speed, but they are physical and they do open holes. We got to be able to take on some blocks, get off the blocks and get through to the ball.”

Don Bosco (6-2) advanced with a 54-10 home win over Collins-Maxwell last week. The Dons have been boosted by the one-two punch of dual-threat quarterback Tucker Youngblut with 24 touchdowns and running back Ty Christensen with 23 touchdowns. The duo has also combined for 1,476 rushing yards. The Dons defense has allowed only three opponents to score more than 10 points.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Gilbertville. The winner will advance to face either North Union or #1 (8P) Bishop Garrigan in the quarterfinal round next week.
